Affiliate Marketing
Is a method of promoting business in the internet based on a partner program between an e-commerce website (Merchant) and a sales partner (Affiliate). The programe is based on a commission that the sale partner can earn by placing web ads provided by the merchant on his/her own site to promote the merchant´s products.
Affiliate Network Provider
Acts as an intermeditary between publishers and affiliate programs and is beneficial for both parties. It allows publishers to find affiliate programs which are suitable for their website and it helps websites offering affiliate programs reach its target audience. Services can also include providing tracking technology, reporting tools, payment processing, and access to a large base of publishers. For affiliates, services can include providing one-click application to new merchants, reporting tools, and payment aggregation.
Affiliate (Marketing) Program

Each request to a web server to load a file (caused when accessing a web page) represents a hit. This can be a html file as well as every web object such as buttons, graphics or sound files. Each of those elements generates a hit when accessing a page containing these elements. For this reason the number of hits is no indicator for how many visitors a site has had.

Visit
Means an access to a website by an internet user. One visit covers all of the user´s page views of the website done in one session. That means if an internet user accesses a website (via a hyperlink to the starting page for instance) and clicks through ten pages after the starting page it is one “site visit” and eleven “page impression”. The user´s behaviour such as starting page, time spent on pages, number and sequence of the pages visited, last page, can be recorded.
