What are the rules for creating my password?
From Wiki.zanox.com
Your password should consist of at least 6 characters, 1 uppercase character and 1 numerical character.
General guidelines for creating secure passwords to access the zanox user interface
- Include uppercase as well as lowercase characters.
- A minimum of 6 characters.
- Special characters - substituting "0" for "O", "!" for "I" etc. does not fool most common password cracking algorithms, so you should not rely on such obvious substitutions for password safety.
- Your password should not consist exclusively of numerical characters or recurring characters.
- Do not base your password on personal, private or business information of any kind (even if it is reversed, repeated etc.). Under no circumstances should your password be the same as your name, your username, your date of birth, etc.
- You should be able to memorise your password without having a copy of it in writing.
- It should not consist of a word taken from a word list or glossary, nor should it be an obvious name or term taken from another language.
- You should be able to enter your password quickly enough so that unwanted onlookers are unable to decipher it.
Good methods for creating passwords
- Take a sentence you can memorise easily and form the password from the first letters of each word (upper/lower case characters as they occur).
- Use two short words and join them with a special character.
Using arbitrary sequences of alphanumeric, numeric and special characters is still the best way of creating a secure password. The downside of this is that they are as difficult to memorise as they are secure!)
