"Adware" is a term coined from "advertising" and "software". It describes a type of software that displays promotional banners or pop-ups as well as providing specific computing functions. Adware is generally distributed free of charge. The promotional elements can normally not be disabled and are always visible. The software developer finances the software through the sale of these third-party advertisements.
